Last Chance Meet Results

The final two regular season meets were held this past weekend in Caledonia and Lakeville.    This was the last chance to qualify for the state meet, and several lifters did just that.  For those who had already qualified, this was a great chance to try some big attempts to prepare for the state meet in three weeks.   Overall, 39 athletes competed in Caledonia, and another 82 lifted in Lakeville.  Caledonia meet results can be found here.  Lakeville meet results can be found here.  They can also be found on the Minnesota High School Weightlifting website in other formats too.

Entry Forms Available

All entry forms for the remaining meets of the 2012 season are now available to download on the website.  Two last chance meets will be held on February 18th.  Those meets will be held at Caledonia High School and at Kenwood Trail Middle School in Lakeville.  The state meet will be held on March 10th, for those who qualify.

Kendrick Farris Details

Here is the official info.  Kendrick Farris will be speaking at the MN NSCA Winter Clinic this coming Saturday at the U of MN, in the Bierman building.  Check-in/registration begins at 7:30 AM with the State Director, Ryan Johnson (Wayzata High) opening the Clinic at 8:00 AM.  Kendrick is scheduled to speak from 8:15-10:00 AM, and again from 2:30-4:00 PM.  For those of you who are not members of the NSCA, I encourage you to join, or renew your memberships – however a special clinic rate has been authorized for our USAW group in MN.  This is an incredible opportunity for our Group to have access to an Olympian, as well as American Record holder.  Coaches bringing Athletes will have access for $20 for the morning session and $30 for both of Kendrick’s sessions.  Each athlete you bring will be $10 each if they show their USAW card (Coaches also).  Chris Rousemiller is the guy to contact with questions regarding this opportunity – and he will be at the check-in table on Saturday.  We hope to see as many of you on Saturday as possible.

Southern Minnesota Results

The second regular season meet is now in the books, and what a meet it was!  Nearly 130 lifters showed up in Cannon Falls on Saturday to compete in what is one of the biggest meets in the country.  Results have now been posted on the website.  The 2012 rankings, through two meets, and also been posted.  You can find those here.  If anyone has pictures or videos that you would like to share on the website, blog, and/or Facebook page, please send them to smeier@farmington.k12.mn.us.

Kendrick Farris Presentation

If you want a chance to see America’s best weightlifter, come to the Minnesota-NSCA State Clinic on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the University of Minnesota.  Olympian and American Record Holder Kendrick Farris is the keynote speaker at this year’s clinic.  There will be more details to come shortly, it looks like a 8:30 speak time and if a coach brings down an athlete for the day – it will be a $10 cost if they show their USAW card.  Stay tuned…

Southern Minnesota Entry Form

The entry form for the Southern MN High School Open meet has now been posted on the website.  You can also download it HERE.  This is the second meet of the 2011-2012 high school season.  It is being held in the new fieldhouse at Cannon Falls High School on Saturday, January 14th.  After the success of last year’s first ever three-platform meet, it will be returning again for 2012!  All JV lifters will compete starting at 9:00am, with the Varsity athletes scheduled for 12:00 noon.  The entry deadline is Jan 9th.  Don’t miss out on competing in this outstanding high school event!

National Junior Qualifier

If you are close to qualifying for the USAW National Junior Championships, you have another chance to get your required qualifying total.  Team Spartacus will be hosting a small meet at noon 10:00am on Dec 31, for those lifters who are close to getting their Q-total.  Because 2012 is an Olympic year, the USAW national competition schedule gets changed to adjust for the trials and the Olympic Games themselves.  This will be the last opportunity to get a Q-total for the junior meet.  You won’t be able to qualify at any other high school season meets, like most years in the past.  Please contact Brian Derwin at AEDERWIN@yahoo(dot)com if you are interested in competing or for more information.

South Metro Results

The results from the South Metro Meet held in Northfield on Saturday have been posted on the Minnesota High School Weightlifting website.  There were some impressive lifts, and it was great to see the new-comers as well.  And a special thanks to all referees and meet workers who volunteered their time!
